Belmont Housing Authority
The Belmont Housing Authority professionally manages a portfolio of 262 state aided public housing units of conventional housing which provides housing assistance for low-income families, veterans, elderly and disabled.
Portfolio:
100 units of two and three bedroom veteran's and family housing
154 units of elderly and handicapped/disabled housing
8-bedroom duplex for the developmentally disabled thru the Department of Mental Health.
The Authority also administers 17 state aided Alternative Housing Voucher Program (AHVP) vouchers, and 47 federally aided Section 8 Housing Choice Vouchers.
The Housing Authority Board is made up of 5 members, 4 of which are elected for overlapping 5-year terms while the fifth is appointed by the Governor. Per state requirement, the Board must have one member who is current tenant of the Authority. The Board sets policy and are the fiduciaries of the Authority. The Cambridge Housing Authority oversees the day-to-day functions of the housing authority as managing agent.
